Lily Park Travels: San Diego

J Outfit: Sunglasses, Scarf (similar), Jacket, Dress (similar)//B Outfit: sunglasses, shirt, shorts

I personally couldn’t wait to get to San Diego.  It was a city I had never been and after the frigid Chicago temps (see our visit here), I was so excited for the change of scenery and some sunshine.

Neither B nor myself had ever been to SD, so we were really looking to make the most of our time here.

Naturally, our first stop was the San Diego Zoo.  This was definitely a highlight of our trip and no wonder why so many people make it a point to visit.  Each exhibit – from the giraffes to the pandas to the gorillas – made me feel like a kid again with a vested interest in learning new fun facts along the way.  Spending a few hours here was totally worth the trip.

Now many of you may know that I am not a big beer drinker, as in not a beer drinker at all, but with so many amazing breweries to try in SD, I took one for the team and am happy to report it was worth it!  Ballast Point Brewery has the best duck confit tacos (and a wine list!) and Stone Brewing Company had the best atmosphere with fire pits and board games.  These spots were not to miss.

The following day we found ourselves on the ferry to Coronado, visiting the famous Hotel del Coronado.  We explored the grounds sipping on iced coffee with sunshine on our faces and it felt so good.  We made our way up the coast for famous fish tacos and topped off the day in La Jolla checking out the seals and sunset from the top of George’s Restaurant.

The city had so much to offer, including the unseen.  B researched this amazing speakeasy behind the doors of a meat locker at the amazing Craft and Commerce restaurant.  We sipped on Hawaiian style cocktails out of tiki glasses, fondly reminiscent of our Hawaiian honeymoon.

I was so thrilled to get use out of warm-weather clothing on this leg of the trip!  I loved wearing my favorite sunnies with my jean jacket and dress with a scarf – it was the perfect combination of layers.  B lived in long-sleeved tees and shorts this whole portion of the trip.

We loved this city and couldn’t wait to pack our bags and head north to Seattle.

Check back tomorrow for our next and final leg of our trip!

P.S. If you missed our first stop in Chicago, you can check it out here.
