AMALFI COAST: CAPRI

I hope you enjoyed the Positano recap from yesterday as we head to Capri today!  Our day trip to Capri was a huge highlight of our vacation and I cannot wait to share the details with you – so let’s get started!  In order to access Capri from Positano, you must travel by boat.  There are a few options (ferry, tour group, etc.) but since this was our anniversary trip, we opted for Gianni’s private boat tour and it did not disappoint.

We began our morning by stopping into a local bodega to buy an Italian bottle of champagne for the boat and sipped cappuccinos all the way down to the pier.  We lucked out with a gorgeous sunny day that had a slight breeze on the water – it was breathtaking.

We were greeted by our captain as we approached the doc; he was so knowledgeable about the surrounding islands and landmarks and also willing to take plenty of photos (always a plus). Although the Blue Grotto was closed due to choppy waters, we certainly made up for it with all of the other beautiful grottos, caves and sights along the way.

We had an amazing day on the water, sailing around the entire island, sipping on champagne, swimming in the Sea and getting dropped off just in time for lunch.

We did a lot of research and decided to eat at La Fontelina Beach Club.  This place was not to be missed – their white and blue striped umbrellas were so welcoming as we climbed the steps to our lunch overlooking the water.  We shared an amazing homemade seafood linguine and fresh seafood salad – delish.

After lunch, we opted to stretch our legs and walk the steps up into town.  This was no small feat wearing a bathing suit and flip flops, but the views from the top were worth it!  We did some window shopping and then settled into the town square for an afternoon cocktail – an aperol spritz for me and birra moretti for B.  It was the perfect way to cap off the day before hopping the ferry back to Positano.

Stop back tomorrow to hear more about our bucket list trip as I review our final day in Ravello!  And if you missed it yesterday, be sure to check out my Positano recap here.
